Just because we need something to make us think about something other than Katrina, check out these Kats.

Ok, this is pretty damn cool. Damn shame we need one of these on a hummer, but damn cool that we do have it.

Now that a few people have actually been to my blog, here is the google map hack with my visitors over the last couple of weeks.

Not much else to say except I hope those folks I know on the gulf coast are safe and sound !!

Testing a widget

So I went ahead and loaded Konfabulator and I like it more than I hate it :) This post will be from a widget that just floats on the desktop, type in a subject line and the body of the post, then hit submit. Seems good for basic text posts, but unless you feel like typing the code out by hand(which i can handle, just spoiled by the normal process) forget about links and images.

Not sure what to talk about today but thought I should post something just to keep things active. You can check out which stories I have dug over at Digg, going to try to keep my diggs sparse but it tends to get kinda fun.

I was listening to diggnation on the way to Nashville Thursday and was nearly in tears at one point. Sometimes those guys are really freakin annoying but once in a while they hit on all cylinders.

One of my diggs was to a widget at Konfabulator (which was recently hoovered up by Yahoo!). There are some very neat little widgets, going to give some of them a try on my 2ndary system before I go cluttering up the main box. I might even give a go at making one, don't hold your breath tho. for my friends who play WoW, here is a widget you might find worthy.

Track visitors to your website using Google Maps

Here is another one of those google map hacks. I am also messing with blogging from another site. Same blog service. Just doing it through a referential link from Digg.com

gvisit.com is the newest tool to make use of the Google Maps API. It allows bloggers - or anyone with a website - to track the locations of their visitors, and plot the results on a Google Map. It is free (donation driven) and you don't even need to register an email address.

In response to a comment from my last post... here are a couple of links. View the earth from the current position of your favorite satellite. I chose Sirius - 1 the first time since they keep me entertained all day while driving.

The 2nd link is Google Maps, which may one day replace Mapquest for giving me directions on how to get from point A to point B. Google maps has the regular street map feature, but adds the arrows on the roads to let you know whether they are one way, etc. One guy apparently used it to get out of a speeding ticket. (If i find that link, I'll include it later) Another feature is the satellite imagery down to pretty decent magnification of the locations your are searching. So John, you'll not need that camera you are waiting for. Lastly, google maps has provided the info you need to program apps using their maps. I will also link some of these I like later, right now I have to finish prepping for my trip to here.

(Edit)
Here is one of those google map hacks I mentioned.

This .. not so much :)

Since I'm in a movie mood at the moment, I was quite pleased to see a trailer last night on the tube for The Brothers Grimm!! Terry Gilliam is the man as far as making movies that are not cookie cutter, so I have great hopes for this. It is a bit suprising to see Matt Damon and Heath Ledger starring in it, but ya never know.

We rapidly approach the release and I grow quite excited! If you have not seen Firefly, get the hense to Netflix or better yet just run out and buy the dvd set. One of the best SciFi shows of the last 10 years which was unjustly shit canned after just one season. You know its good if the ground swell from fans spits up a feature film. All reports around the blog world seem to indicate a great movie. You have time to watch the series, and to help out, SciFi channel is running episodes on friday nights, but I suggest just getting the series on dvd, its not too expensive and there are no commercials :)

Drool !

Just went over to BigHugeGames site to see what my friend Paul is up to, since he hasn't updated his blog in a much longer time span than yours truely. The new game they are working on looks amazing, can't wait to get my paws on it. Like yesterday would not be soon enough.
